Commitees of the Macula Society
Several committees are dedicated to specific goals and objectives of the Society. The Macula Society has an Executive Committee, consisting of the officers and committee chairpersons, who have the responsibility of overseeing the general direction of the Society. The Awards Committee recommends specific candidates for recognition at the meeting. The By-Laws Committee provides structure to the Society providing members with an optimal experience; the Research & Education Committee accepts applications and awards grants to researchers whose goals are consistent with the Macula Society's objectives. The Credentials Committee accepts and reviews new membership applications, bringing those who qualify to the members for a vote. The Meeting Planning Committee selects the venue and organizes the activities. The Nominating Committee identifies and nominates members for key positions, which will support the goals and objectives of the Macula Society. The Program Committee reviews abstracts and decides which papers will be presented to the members at the annual meeting. The recently added Website committee will oversee the development of the website.

The Macula Society's success is a tribute to the Founders, Officers, Chairpersons and Committee members who have given freely of their time and efforts to further the mission of the Society. The Macula Society also recognizes its many sponsors, without whose support the Society could not be so excellent. Most important, however, to the success of the Society, has been the remarkable loyalty of its members, who present their best work at the annual meeting.
